With age, I have learned that with full presence anchored in the heart,
small talk can become LOVE-talk
I often use my art creation process as a meditative and contemplative journey. This one started as a realization that small talk, which was something I have often shied away from because of my stuttering,1 could actually have a deeper experience of engagement without changing the small talk itself.
For some reason, on this one day, I had text conversations with a couple of friends I have known for most of my life. I have always loved these friends and connecting again after all the time gone by brought up a sense of deep love for them and a feeling of intense gratitude and a sense of the sacredness of these life long connections.
In those moments of connection, it didn’t matter what we were talking about. There was a kind of beauty in the small talk within the gravitational field of the love I was feeling in those moments. I was giving them the gift of deep listening and they were giving me the gift of knowing more about their life journey in this moment of time and space...and I hope vice versa.
So after these conversations I wrote the above short riff on small talk becoming LOVE-talk. Then I took that riff above and used it as a text-prompt on the Night Cafe AI online generative art platform, in an effort to try and create an image that resonated with this awareness. The image below is what emerged…
Next I took the image into Oilist AI Art app and created the image you see at the top of this post.
Once again, the AI-assisted transformative art process was turbo-charged with transformative energy for me. I ended up experiencing a deep altered state that lasted a few hours…and it felt pretty good.
Using transformative art practices in the midst of a revelatory experience, be they big powerful transformations or small ah-ha moments, helps me to embody the experience in a material form that always seems to offer a mirror that somehow always takes me deeper into the transformative process.
In Gratitude…

Notes
Because of my stuttering making it difficult to talk I became habituated to trying to talk as little as possible and when I do talk to have it mean something. Regrettably this limited my communication potentials. This even translated to emails and texting without my realizing it. This current lived inquiry process opened me to these new awarenesses…
